K so its in the 80's today... And my girls are roasting out there .. I dont have good shade where they are at ( moving them today when my dad gets here)... Have been spraying them with a light mist couple times but wondered if i could put some fabric over there run for shade? I am afraid a tarp would make it hotter... Can i use black silk or will this make it hotter? Just wondering... I have like thirty yards of the stuff from an old project..

I'm glad winter is over but I forgot how hot it really is!

I just want to swim all day, but the water is still really cold even though it's so warm outside.

On our temp coop I had a blue tarp over the run. But with the high winds the past few months it torn it to shreds. So now Im using a old trampoline liner thingy. I know how black attracts the sun in a way, I went in the run and sat there a while. It was cooler then without the trap. So I would say go ahead and use it. If you can get in there with them and sat for a while to see if it makes it cooler. I would think as long as it gets them out of direct sunlight it would work.

well i put a big sheet thingy ( has a cool celtic design on it) over half the run and the silly things went half crazy trying to get away from it .. I guess when they get hot enough they'll get over there fear of it .. they are avoiding the sheet like it has the plague

Silly chickens ... They love the hose misting though the big girls run thru it like its a sprinkler but the teens have all holed up in there coop they want nothing to do with it....
