Ways to mark your chicks....

I tried nail polish and it did not work too well. First I went and picked a pale green color so they wouldn't be temped to pick each other. Well it is semi-translucent and matched the color of their feet so I couldn't tell what had polish on it. I would still avoid red.

I think the best way is to cut feathers or leg bands

How does a toe punch work?

Take a knife and slice the web between the toes, or stab holes in them (Holes can sometimes... split and look like a slice), can also take small scissors and cut the (flap?). over their nostrils. Is painless (Or at least with day old chicks.. never tried it on older ones). and if you show or something like that.. easy to tell which Line is which. like for example.. Line one -every chick from this line is marked. Left in (Left foot. the web closest to the right foot between the toes). Line two, is right in. *shrug* you can mark 16 different ways using that method
