Today I treated my flock's water with Wazine 17. This afternoon, I discovered two eggs in the nest box...TWO!

Now you must understand that I am new to chickens and have only two laying hens and three pullets. I have NEVER had a two egg day...EVER! (Of course I've only been in chickens since June and started with pullets. The laying hens came to us in October, but only one of them is really doing her part.) I have been waiting for this day for so long. It might even be an egg from one of my pullets. But of course, today just had to be the day I administered Wazine, so my question is this (to which I'm pretty sure I know the answer) do I have to throw today's eggs away? I know it's not a big deal, but I am just SO excited about having two eggs. Silly, I know, but...

Really not silly at all. Especially when you consider you got them to be able to have fresh eggs on your table.

The reason you don't eat the eggs until a specified amount of time goes by is that no studies have been done to ascertain whether the drug shows up in the eggs. Not knowing that leaves someone open to an allergic reaction if any of the drug is present.

That said, I don't wait, never have. Is it because it isn't present in the egg? Or is it because we're not allergic?

Hmmm...good question... I'll probably err on the side of caution, just to be safe, and toss them. Ironically, I can't eat eggs, or haven't been able to for several years. I end up with violent dry heaves (apparently the eggs get all the way down, but can't get back up and out). I have yet to try our eggs (not looking forward to possibly failing the test), but the rest of my family loves eggs, especially our eggs, so I would hate to ruin it for them! Thanks for your help!

Really you eat them right through the "quaratine egg" time? I took two weeks to be brave-I didnt want to wait but did because of the "unknown"

Yeh. And it wasn't because I was brave. I simply forgot that I had put wormer in their water. Nothing happened then so I figured OK, fine. Then if you consider many of the wormers we use on the birds are also used in humans.

I wonder how it would be with invermectin pour on?? hmmm... funny you forgot becausse it was really hard for me not to eat a fresh egg omelet..I just kept all my eggs and blew them all out for xmas decorations:)

I would discard the eggs and wait 2 weeks. I didnt cook/boil the eggs and give them back to the chickens because that would be re-introducing the wormer back into them, possibly extending the wait period. Depending,it's also possible worms could be passed into the eggs. After the 2 week wait period, I did a 2nd worming with Ivermectin pour on, discarded the eggs and waited another 2 weeks.
