WDYD in a car accident?

All the states I have worked in you got a report for everything or it didn't happen an you, not your insurance was stuck with the bill. Even if you back into your own car in your yard.

Not here in PA. None of the officers in my county, local and state police, go to accidents on private property if there are no injuries. We do have to inform the officers of the accident, to cover our butts, but they don't respond to them.

The local county's have rotating lists. To get on the list you have to be in the county, have both a wrecker and a rollback, be bonded, insured($1 million in coverage), have a fenced impound an have someone on call 24/7/365. If you ask for a wrecker by name they call them but if not they call who ever is up on the list. That person cant be called from the list again till all the others on that list has been rotated threw. Price varies from $50 to $120 here. If you want to request someone it can be Bubba with a truck an chain for all they care.

Hubbs hit a car on the cross street that is connected to our street. They charged $165 to tow it from the cross street to our driveway!!!! Holy crapola, I could have gotten towed in from Conway for that price!!! Usually there's a $50 hookup/call-out fee, and then $2/mile after that, at least from the company I prefer --- but how the heck it cost $165 to go 3 blocks is way beyond my comprehension!! It's definitely in your benefit to have the number to a company you prefer programmed into your phone or otherwise available when you need it!!

Obviously every state is different. Here in TN, officers ALWAYS respond at the scene, and you're in big trouble if you have moved that car one millimeter.

See, an Tn is one of the states that has the signs that say to move off the roadway.

That's why I say wait an ask the cop.

Take photos not only of the accident, but of the other person's face, driver's license and vehicle. This has saved me lots of time and money in the past. Thank heavens for cell phones with cameras!!
