Well i got 5 chicks went to the store with my mom and got 5 more got rid of poor little roo HB to a good home of course then my uncle gave me his 5. Im at 16 and only wanted 5 little chooks for easter 2 years ago!

I started with 30 SR (knowing we would eat half of them) For now we have 13.
Am I crazy? I just ordered 50 chicks to begin work on a breeding project. Oh, I am sure we won't keep many of them, but the ones we do keep we are going to breed. Its always a slippery slope with chickens.

It's just a little chicken math.
For Example......
Well, I have these 3 hens, well they need a Rooster, but a rooster can keep 10 hens happy, so I need 7 more hens to keep my Rooster satisfied. Well I built this bigger coup for those 11 so I have my older smaller coup that is empty so I can get some more chickens to put in there.

I started at 25 and kept all of them to adulthood, a few died, bought 11 more, sold the extra roosters, and now ordering more for the spring! (I secretly hope to talk my family into Quail too!)
