Although we wanted chickens since buying a larger piece of property three years ago, we finally jumped in this year. We bought 6 pullets and have spent a fortune on those six girls. We've learned a lot (they can really escape, they are always hungry, the poop ALOT, and they really attract flies - oh, the flies), but we enjoy them and find a lot of relaxing enjoyment comes from watching them peck around the yard. We got our first egg today (girl is 17 weeks, one day according to the place we bought them from). I've learned a lot from this forum and enjoy reading about raising chickens.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Congratulations on the first egg!
You shouldn't have that many flies. Post to the coop and run forum. You may need more space or better litter or poop boards or all of the above!!
