We are new to Quail

Welcome Glenda and Robert to our forum.
I’ve been a newbie to quail for 6 months now. Throughly enjoyed posting, responding, and in some cases assisting. One common thread I see consistently is members have questions or issues about their quail but do not acknowledge what kind of quail they have. I have bobwhites and their needs are different than the others because they are different in the way they act, lay, incubation, etc. different than say Valley Quail. Geographic location as well.
You will also find key members that are extremely helpful and noteworthy.
For me this forum is a Godsend. I now have 3 sets of eggs being incubated, 2 with me and 1 at a friends. My first set is due in 5 days and this is exciting yet I don’t know what I will experience actually til it happens. I am on a learning curve but excited I am at this point.
I have purchased a n incubator small and cheap but after we calibrated it it seems to work fune....
It holds 24 quail eggs ...
But out of the first batch we only got one babe. ..
I think because we tried to open it and change the water while they were pipping? We lost 7 that did not fully hatch

can you explain your unlimited water system, that is something I'm interested in, thanks
I have a 2 gallon bucket with a float valve inside it. I have a water hose attached to the float valve that I keep valved in "on". I have a hose coming out the bottom of the bucket that attaches to a PVC pipe full of chicken nipples. When the quail drink out of the pipe the level in the bucket falls. When the level lowers the float valve automatically allows the bucket to fill back up.

This setup allows you to hook a water hose to your chicken nipples while keeping gravity pressure on the nipples instead of high pressure water.
