We are new!

We are both old hat computer gamers turned Xbox gamers. He worked for Microsoft for several years and we got hooked. We are currently on Diablo 4, but have played all of Fallout, the rest of the Diablos, and too many other games to recall here. Bioshock? Lat of us (playstation). and so many others.
I enjoy playing computer games. Just about everyone I know in IT plays video games...in some capacity.

BioShock looks pretty interesting. But right now, Overwatch 2 is heavily in rotation amongst my group of friends :)

Oh, and I LOVE playing Stardew Valley.

David also worked for Blizzard for a while and that's one their games I never was able to get into. My son lives Stardew. Bioshock is an old game but worth playing. Atomic heart is next up for me I think

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I grew up with chickens. My husband did not. We just got our first flock this year. Some in March and some in July

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 24

(3) What breeds do you have? We got 10 black Australorp and 2 Ameracauna in March. Then we got 12 cream legbar this month.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Watching my husband go googoo over them :) My husband says his favorite part is the independence of providing our own food, though we are still waiting for our first eggs. We both love animals. We both enjoy doing things together and this is an activity we share. I grew up a country girl and this is a piece of home for me.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We both enjoy video gaming, gardening, 3d printing. I love genealogy. He still enjoys tinkering with technology after spending a career in cyber security.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Our kids are grown. One of them comes and helps sometimes. In addition to 24 chickens we have 7 cats - all rescues. My husband and I are both youngish retirees. He is a disabled gulf war vet. I am agoraphobic and do not leave the house much. The chickens and the garden keeps us both busy.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D we found you through Google and have been following the forums since before we got chickens. It helped us make some critical decisions on things like whether or not to get chickens, how to treat coccidiosis and how to set up our first brooder.
Welcome you two! What a great intro.
This is such a great place to learn and ask questions from all the wise chicken members. Chickens are such goofballs! So peaceful to be with. Let us know when you get that first egg 🥚! It's so gratifying to gather those butt nuggets, cackle berries.

I have heard here, that Australorp Roo's are the best roosters.
So far they have been great. They don't fight but they are still young. We are only just now able to determine they are roosters. We will have to re-home almost all of them. We plan to keep one because he is a very good rooster. He lets us carry him around and is gentle with children but still takes care of the flock - even the other roosters. Lol
