we are not feeling well

My 4 year old daughter is coughing and my wife woke up with a sore throat.
We have 4 newborn chicks now and there are more on the way (4 out of 24 eggs).
Do I have to worry about the chicks getting sick from them?

I would guess, no. Most illnesses are species specific. There are a few which cross over but have different effects. That being said, your wife and daughter could probably use some rest, so maybe they'd want to wait to play, care for the chicks.

I saw a thread on this the other day and all agreed that a human cold in theory shouldn't transfer to a chick. Doesn't mean you wouldn't want to use caution if handling your chicks i.e. wash your hands before and after, not sneezing or coughing into the brooder and no chicken kisses!
