Well It's more like a rabbit hutch that was used as a coop but with a little work and some adjustment's and time we should have a great little coop on our hands! It's got a angled roof, and it's raised high off the ground. It give's us the bare bones to start with and a sturdy frame to build off of! I'm so excited to be getting this all started and!!! to make thing's even better I found an ad in my local freecycle group for 100 free fence board's!! I'm going to use them on 3 sides of the chicken run to enclose the back and sides of the run and then use chain link fence or something good and strong across the front (If I get the fence board's). Oh and the best part... the coop only cost us 48 bucks!!! So far we have only invested 98 bucks in every thing for these chick's. Not bad if I don't say so myself! I am expecting to spend about ...another 100 bucks before the project is done but I should have a coop, a generous sized run, feed, bedding, and a tractor.

congrats on the new coop!! I love rabbit hutches up off the ground. I also found a nice hutch and I am doing a little modification on it too. You're a dang good shopper to have everything for $98!! Post some pics!

I will post pic's ASAP we had to leave to coop there (paid for) because it was too wide to fit in the vehicle we brought yesterday to pick it up with. Were borrowing a pickup today or tomorrow to get the coop and we will take pic's of the whole process. I'm video taping the process to upload to youtube too. If Id seen how cheap it can be done and how much fun it is to have chicken's I would have done this a LONG time ago. Hopefully my vid's help someone else to come to the chicken side of the force! (my hubby is a star wars nerd and has begun to infect me too lol)

Any way's I'm off to post a few questions and see if I can find some good sturdy wood & plexi glass for cheap!
