We finally took the plunge and built an incubator. Hubby wanted it cabinet style so he built it from scratch for me, it can hold 48 eggs right now but we could possibly add another shelf for a total of 72 eggs! I put chicken and duck eggs in there this morning and it seems to be okay, cross your fingers for me!

How well is the water heater thermostat working for you? Did you do the modification on it (ie: drill holes in it)? I'm in the process of testing one out and am curious about them. I know there are a lot of people who say they won't work.

Thanks

we tried an inline voltage thermostat and it didn't work. I have some temp variation on the hot water thermostat but it doesn't seem too bad for now. I'm already obsessing about it.

I've heard that a standard water heater thermostat can vary by as much as 10°F. I was going to test out modifying one like this: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=26580-thermostat-modification to see if it'll work as claimed.

You may want to point that out to hubby, he may be able to modify one like that and replace the current one. I haven't tried a modified one yet, but it has to work better than a "standard" thermostat.

I used the hot water therostat it had a 8 degree temp swing I drilled1/8" holes not good enough.
Then drilled them 1/4" now stabilizing at 99.5 to 99.6 It works
