My son made mushroom pasta yesterday. Some fell in the sink while draining. I donāt like mushroom stems in the pasta. So I created this dish.
finely chopped mushroom stems
Chopped up pasta (I had rotini)
Chopped up garlic
Cantaloupe seeds (they love love these) and skins (chopped)
herbs of choice (I add rosemary, California buckwheats, fennel fronds and leaves, parsley, sage)
Crushed & dried eggshells (I put them in the toaster oven for 10 min at 200 degrees)
Pomegranate (from a whole unripe pom left behind by a squirrel when I chased her away) or any other Fruit/vegetable of your choice.
herbs of choice
in a tsp of oil cook the mushroom stems for 3-4 minutes. (I read somewhere that raw mushrooms are not good for chicken) Add garlic and pasta. Turn off the heat. Add fruits, seeds and a sprinkling of herbs.
Fill in ice cube trays and freeze. Fill in a large ziploc bag to store in the freezer.
Every morning I take 1 (mine are about 2ā cube) of these cubes and put it in their breakfast bowl mixed with some of their regular feed and oats. The bowl gets emptied in a couple of hours. (I have three 10 week old pullets)
