After building the coop and run and working in the sweltering heat every weekend all summer we finally have some hens. We have been debating on what age to start with and my son's piano teacher's grandson had some of his hens for sale and so here we go on our chicken adventure.
They seem to be happy in their new coop.
We actually had 3 eggs by the following afternoon.
Now I am originally a military kid and grew up in Augusta, Georgia, so all this country farm life is quite new to me. I must admit that I was kind of shocked at the amount of poo left in the morning! I knew it would happen but just did not expect quire so much from 4 hens! LOL!
Let the journey begin!
