What do you use?Never use hay for nests or bedding. It is to good of an environment for mites, lice and fleas... They can come in the hay to.

Good to know! Thanks, I'll stick with shavings!!I use shavings in my coop floor and nest boxes. I have read on here that chickens sometimes will eat hay and can get an impacted crop from ingesting it. It tends to get balled up in their crop and the hay won't pass through their digestive system. That can be a real health concern (some folks on here have had to perform surgery on their birds to remove it), so I avoid the hay.
