Several of our EE pullets began to laying in the past 6 wks. First only one, then 2 wks later another, now we have at least 4 laying, but they never lay in the same place and some places are so hidden that we blocked or covered the areas, causing them to be more secretive or shock us and lay in one of our many nesting boxes.
We have an old grain bin that has been partially demolished for coop projects, so is now an open loft. Our EE's are our best fliers and roost above the loft on one of the barn rafters. After the egg count was down this week DH climb a ladder to the loft today and found one of the EE pullets nesting on----17 eggs!! She was not happy to be found, and very grumpy about having the eggs taken. Even as a older chick this pullet has been a natural Mama.
DH knows it has been at least 2 wks since he checked the loft for eggs so it looks like I'll be scrambling some eggs for the chooks. They are so much fun, never a dull moment.
