My son wanted an animal for his room. My husband and I have our cat, I have my chickens, my older son has his own cat. I didn't want to add another cat and my husband said no to a dog so we got a mini lop rabbit. She is adorable! I got a huge cage for her and we let her out two hours a day or so. She runs, jumps, kicks, spins in circles and is so much fun to watch and enjoy. She is littler trained too! I never knew owning a rabbit would be so much fun! Any extra advice is welcome. I already took her to the vet for a physical. She checked out healthy at 4 months old. He recommended getting her fixed due to temperament and female rabbits have high risk of uterine cancer. So we will do that when she is 6 months old.

She's adorable!

I don't know if you've done research on this stuff, but as 'advice' I can tell you about some home remedies to certain sicknesses/problems in rabbits. For (GI) stasis baby's gas drops can be used to clear it up, and for feeding critical care is always a good thing to have on hand for emergencies. (You may need to syringe it slowly if they won't take it) We've cleared up two cases of stasis with baby's gas drops and with critical care and just leaving the rabbit be. Never had to go to the vet. Some people buy baby food sweet potato during stasis but every time we've done that they just end up getting better before we use any... sigh.

Corn starch, like other animal nails, can be used to stop bleeding if a nail is ripped out or clipped too close to the quick. And if yours ever contracts ear mites or gets crusty ears mineral oil can clear that right up!

Hope you enjoy your rabbit. They make good pets. :)
