We got our first dark egg!

We got 3 "rare marans" from Meyers in April.

Misty- Blue Splash maran laid her first egg.. and it's dark!

Yay!
Snow- the "white Maran" started laying last week- nice bird.. but I don't think she is really a maran- here she is and her first egg (light brown) on lower right. The other 3 are from my hens- 2 EEs and an australorpe

The 3rd rare maran hasn't laid an egg yet.. but she looks nothing like a black copper and has white earlobes!

The one maran you got is beautiful! Sounds like they should have put rare breeds and not rare marans.

That last one is not a Marans - White earlobe and has a small crest. It is a mutt.

Congrats on the egg though! Hopefully it gets darker over time.
