We got our first egg!!!

My Black Sex Link, Lucille, laid her first egg the other day!!! She's the first of our girls to start laying and we are so excited about it!

So far she's given us 4 eggs... I'm pretty sure. Ha! 2 eggs were laid on the same day, and I'm fairly certain none of my other girls have started laying yet.

Congratulations! The first egg is always the most eggciting.
2 eggs in one day, sounds like you have two girls laying for you. I'd keep an eye out.

I'd be ecstatic if two girls were laying. There may be, but none of the others have any of the "signs" I've only got one girl whose comb has changed. Of course, I'm new to chicken-ing (ha!) and I could be totally wrong.

Well it is possible that your hen laid two eggs in one day, it's highly unlikely though. It's much more likely that you have two layers and the second one just hasn't had enough of a hormonal change that she's started to have obvious signs of a layer. I have a barred rock who was like that. She started laying and there was zero sign of her laying beside the fact that she went into a nest box that was empty and when she came out there was an egg. haha she still to this day has a small comb and wattles.
