I like him but not really. He is about the best dog you could ask for though. I don't know what is broken with him other than the situation we found him in. He was chained to a tree from early Janurary until we "rescued" him. He is fully vetted and microchipped and a house dog now.

Are all Mallinois retards? Don't get me wrong here we have a pretty cute derp.

I've always wanted one but stuck to little 'dogs'. Well they don't really know they're dogs.
I've always seen videos of them doing crazy tricks, like climbing up tree's and buildings.
I know you'd have to train them at a young age, and exercise them, otherwise they become a handful.
Can you attach a picture of him please? (sorry I'm obsessed with dogs).

IMG_6783.JPG his tongue is not naturally this color he just licked the blu-kote off another animal. He doesn't make the best decisions. Oh yes I have seen those your tube vidoes too my fence is only 6 feet high and they are pretty scary when you want to keep your dog home and safe.

Mals are not for most people. They are highly intelligent and high drive dogs. If you aren't careful the dog will work you instead of you working the dog. They are not a breed that does well with boredom and absolutely need a job to do or they will find something to do - and its usually something you don't want.
We have both working (my husbands police K9)

and pet (our current foster) mals.

You will find daily training, walking, and providing a job will go a long way to controlling the “crazy”.

We had to take him in it was so painful seeing him chained to a tree because the owners couldn't deal with him. He was passed between two neighbors who could not deal with him. We like him and he is now a good house dog and chicken safe. The last bit will to be getting his food aggression out. We have ruined him though by taking his reproductive parts away. At least our neighbors will never want him back.

Sounds like neutering was the right choice if he is having aggression issues. Not all dogs should breed.
To help deal with it, I'd suggest feeding in a kennel and making him work for his food.

Right now we just make him sit until he gets a command that it is ok to eat. That is working for the moment but after 2 months I still won't get between him and his bowl.

Keeping this dog chained to a tree for half a year broke him in a bad way. Regardless, he is a great pet. I know our neighbors are surprised he runs the property and follows commands.

You're awesome for rescuing him. He is super handsome! I'm a long time German Shepherd owner, but I've never had a mal. I have heard they can be pretty intense! Why do you think yours is not smart? I've always thought they seemed like an intelligent breed. Have you done any training with him? Does he get exercise? If he hasn't had much training, or he's having behavioral issues, you might want to get a good trainer to help you. Be sure the trainer is experienced with working breeds though. If you have a protection dog/sport club near you, it might be a good place to look for trainers experienced with mals and other similar breeds.

Chains are never good for dogs. Glad he isn't on one any more!
