Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: And Everything Thereafter

So I think I have a plan . . .

Between 7 CPs, 7 CCLs, 1 Monster Egg, and 6 White mystery bantam eggs I have 21 eggs that need to go in the incubator.

It's only day 4 for the 24 large mystery eggs, but I'll go ahead and candle them anyway. If I don't see any obvious signs of development I'll toss them. They're from my own flock so I can hatch more at a later date. I will also drop the 6 white mystery bantam eggs if I don't have the room for them.

This will keep the smaller incubator open for the 4 bantams eggs to hatch in that are due to hatch in a week.

As luck would have it, it seems my boys are doing their jobs. It also turns out I can't toss developing eggs, even at only 4 days.

That's like when I start seeds for my garden in the winter. I get to a point where I know I should thin the plants. Or get rid of weaker looking ones....but. Yea. No. Doesn't happen and I find a way to cram them all into the garden some how.

Second incubator loaded with 20 eggs. I had to ditch one of the white bantam eggs.


I plan to move the chicks that are in the brooder out tomorrow . . . that's as far as I got with the plan.

I still need to figure out what to do about the 4 bantam eggs that are only a week away from hatching.

Today was a busy day, maybe I'll have more brain juice tomorrow.

If we were closer I'd let you borrow my incubator. Maybe a TSC run for a little cheapie to use for lockdown for the bantam eggs?

I have like 5 incubators it's space to set them up that I'm running short on. Especially when they're hatching, I have to keep them out of reach of Daisy, my dog, she likes to bonk the incubator when chicks pop out of the egg .

I'll be moving the 2 week old outside today so I clean the brooder and have it ready for the new hatches.

The funny part about all this is I intended to do one large hatch and be done for the year.
