We have a murderer in the flock!

I have 2 RIR's and 3 of once was 5 WRock's. All hens. First hen last week and now another yesterday. Both were found very early am in a corner of the run pecked to death. I noticed both were showing signs of being pecked on the necks. Never could catch the attacker in the act. I read in the forum to try hanging a cabbage. This worked but only for a few days. Tried cat chow for possible lack of protein. Any suggestions?
