We got our first eggs today (three of them so far), and they are green from our Easter Eggers. I'm so excited!!! They are actually bigger than I expected - almost normal size, but not quite. They laid them under a bush by our back porch. I guess I need to hurry and get some straw or bedding in the nest boxes and stick golf balls in there to give them the hint. See the pic below of the first two I found. I've got medium/large female hands, so that gives you an idea of their size I guess.

For some reason our Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds are not laying yet, and they are bigger and older (by about a week). Is that unusual? Do you think maybe they have laid already, but I haven't found the eggs, or maybe my dog or a predator found them first?

Congrats on your pretty eggs! It's hard to say about your other chickens. Just because one breed is supposed to lay earlier than another doesn't mean it always happens that way, especially when they are just a week apart. How old are they exactly? Then again, it's possible something else found your girls' eggs before you did. I bet you will start finding some brown ones soon if you do the golf ball thing! Good luck!!

Thanks! I'm guessing they are around 21 and 22 weeks old, respectively.
