So our Buff Orp hen, Setherina, was broody several weeks ago. It was her first try and she was rewarded with 3 tiny chicks from our own chickens that we raise: 2 Red Star/RIR chicks, and 1 Splash Cochin/Buff Orp chick. We named Them Peanut(the Buff Orp/Splash), Juo, and Suzy(the Red Star/RIR chicks). They were so small and fluffy and cute! We were hoping so much that they would all be girls, so that's why we gave them girl names.
I've heard of how some people hatch eggs and most of them(or all) turn out to be roosters. But for some reason, these 3 chicks just aren't showing any roosterish (if that's a word) signs.
And I have this strange feeling that they are all girls...I don't know why.
Today, all of them have tiny tiny combs(no bigger-than-usual-and-red combs) and their chins are wattle-free.
So, we may be lucky enough that these 3 chicks just happened to be all girls!
I hope so; we've already bonded with them and everything.
