We need advice, our rooster was attacked by a dog

you can give some rooster booster... Remember that the dog had his mouth around the bird and handle him carefully as their could be broken bones from the dog's crushing bite.... It may not have broken the skin but be cautious as their can still be internal damage... any puntures will be under the wings... I always treat punctures with hydrogen peroxide and Blue-Kote or spray Furozone... available where you buy horse products.

I recommend lead poisoning for the dog... and a bill to the owner. Good luck and post a pic if ya got one of the patient!! Rah rah.. good job!!

one more question....what does it mean if they open their mouth like they're crowing, but they aren't. Is something stuck in the throat?

I'm new at chickens but have raised many exotic birds. When I want to KNOW that they have gotten their meds I 1) inject or 2) mix the meds in baby parrot formula and feed it to them with a syringe.

Remember that birds generally mask any pain as it's a sign of weakness to predators. If your guy is showing pain it's because he's in a lot of it! I'd keep him still a little quiet, not let him run all over.
Animals don't have the sense to take it easy. He's sounds like a cute character. You'll have to post some pics of this charming little man...uh, I mean, roo

This is Sammy Davis Jr. He's still limping, but he's eating, drinking and crowing and talking to us now....in the living room...weird

We are keeping him as still as we can. He'll be inside for a few more days probably. We don't want to assume everything is ok, only to find him in bad shape in the coupe. Better safe than sorry. I'm already used to him being in the house. I still cannot believe I HAVE A ROOSTER IN MY HOUSE! Did hell freeze over??? lol

Hopefully Sammy will recover. Do treat him carefully and give him antibiotics to make sure he's not going to have an infection.
