Please let us know what you think.
We have 4 Barred Rock Pullets 5 months old.
Also 4 Ameraucana Pullets 3 month old we have them out of the brooder at 5 weeks and started them outside of coop with playpen method at about 9 1/2weeks we partioned the coop and run.
We just last week made a small opening for them to go when wanted to Barred Rocks side they did adventure unnoticed at times but when BR did notice ran over and took a few features and the younger one panicked could figure out how to get back we intervened and rescued her.
Now a few days after that we noticed they had all gone into the BR's section BR were inside coop did not notice until coming out but were very easy going about them but Ameraucana's freaked out cousing all kinds of problems for them selves, but no hurt.
At any point they made it up to BR's roost and stayed there we eventually cut a small hole between there roost area so they had another area to run back into there area.at one point they came down from roost and when BR saw them they went into corner all together BR just got close and watched then left them where they went back up to roost.
This all transpired around there roost time so I wonder if that was why the BR were less aggressive? Or are they accepting them? We eventually put Ameraucana's back through the hole in roost area so BR would go up to roost.
So we would like to know if we are on the right track and or if we should do any thing different?
We wanted for them to be integrated be for the BR started nesting which if we are right could begin in another month.
Do these to breeds get along?
When should we expect them to be full time companions at this point in our methods?
Any advice on this and the breeds will be great feedback
Thank You
