We were coming back from vacation and we found that we had a broody on around 20 eggs but it's been 28 days since we returned still nothing:(

I didn't know when she started sitting on them but I was overjoyed of the thought of a brood hen. So after a few days I candled one and there were blood vessels I was happy it was healthy! But I candled it a few days ago because it had no pips and they hadn't hatched. One had a dark shadow on the side and the other visible yolk and the same shadow??? Was it going to hatch..... so I waited and waited but none had hatched. I know i'm going to have to throw them out but what happened?

Let her sit on them for a few more days. My turkey hatched her eggs 4-5 days after 28 days. Just wait. Good luck for you and your hen!

I'd candle them all! We came home to a similar situation...6 broodies and 40 eggs! They hatched 13, but not on day 21. I tossed the ones not growing as I candled every few days.

It is very possible since their are 20 eggs that they were payed at different times and that means they will hatch at different times
