Weak hatch ducklings !

Sometimes stuff goes wrong.

But if you are hatching them for a friend you may want to keep pics to show them you aren't ripping them off, because a lot of people are running scared and stressed out right now. And you don't want to have them confused about anything.

I'd keep trying.

And those are the two best kinds of ducks for friendliness I hear. So its a neat experiment.

So you still have about 10 eggs still going right? And how much time left do you have?

I'd keep trying. Don't give up.

I still have 3 eggs on the incubator ( a 4th Welsh died right after piping). The remaining 3 ducklings already pipped exterior. From the ones hatched (7), one seems to have wreck neck. I added Nutri Drench and Niacin to their water and they are all drinking. I had hard time hatching the Welsh last year too, as they have more visible blood vessels than the other breeds , but I did not lost any. Now, loosing 4 well developed and that already pipped, it’s really frustrating. Thank you for your encouragement. I may try in spring again, just to be sure that was not heat related and vitamins deficiency.

If they are dying after pipping then pull them out as soon as they are waking and pipping, and don't wait. :S

Finished with hatching:
- 4 Welsh ( 1 pair silver and 1 pair gold)
- 2 Black Swedish/ Welsh
- 4 Splash Swedish/ Welsh

What does Splash mean on the mixes?

Also in the future it does look like if you lost a lot of them after pipping then the logical conclusion on your next batch will be to get them out asap and not wait.

Morning ! One week later, here are the babies now ❤️Everyone is doing good and they are growing nicely !
