I came home this afternoon and found my daughters chickens very overheated. I rushed them in the house into a cool tile bathroom, fan and sprits with water. After having some ice water and food all seem well and are walking around but one. She's eating and drinking but is not standing and her legs are floppy. She rests on the knee or elbow part of both legs. Sorry for this misterminology. Any ideas as to what may cause this?

I'm sorry it took so long to respond.

Being over-heated causes brain damage which can lead to neurological symptoms like paralysis. How is she doing now?

She is doing much better thank you for asking. She's eating and drinking as normal. I have her separated into the main bathroom where it's cooler. She seems to be selectively using her legs. Sounds strange, I know. She's jumping and walking around but when I try to put her back with the other 5 birds she immediately drops to the ground and flops over as if she losses all control of her legs. I'm worried if I put her in the coop after we install fans the others will pick on her and possibly kill her. Will they do that to her?

Likely, they will injure her. Or at least she will over-heat again. I suggest keeping her inside and on vitamins until she shows the ability to use her legs well enough to get away from any bullying. I hope that is soon.
