fuzzy pics, but its definitly a dark range/tibetian...looks a little big tho(for a quaill that is) either that or you have small hands. read thru this if you havn't already. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/102281/coturnix-quail-basics-information-and-pictures-galore looks to be less then a week old. the wing feathers will be the first to pop out, that starts at about a week. if that is a normal 20oz bottle cap then he's about normal size. probably weak from being moved. quail chicks are ALOT more fragile then chicken chicks and shouldn't be moved until a few weeks old. I'd just take extra special care, keep that washcloth/stuff animal in there for company.
i'm with bfrancis as well, quail CAN have chick starter but its not recommended as that stuff is usually 18% protien and way to low, you need a 24% or higher(my birds get 30% GBS) i'd head to a feed store and ask for the best quaility gbs they have(if they try and tell you that chick starter is fine, you smack that fool in the face and tell him you didn't ask for his opinion!) Purina makes a REALLY good feed for gamebirds if you can find it(there are TONS out there tho)
