Weak silkie chic needs help! This little chic had trouble hatching out of the shell, after 2 days of being stuck, I very gently helped it out by breaking little pieces of shell. The chic got out of the inner membrane by itself. ( I know this isn't recommended but I figured it had been too long and was probably very weak). It seemed happy to stretch it's little wings at first but now it's not standing and tips forward. I placed it under a hen, she covered it with her wing but a couple hours but later rejected it. Now it's on a warm pad in a little "home made nest" in our house. How can I help it regain it's strenghts? it's making little peep sounds but it's really weak. Our 3 silkie hens have had 4 healthy chics so far and all seem happy and healthy...

Chicks that you help hatch are usually weaker than others. I would for now give her some electrolytes. Feed stores near you should have some packets. Mix it with her water.

Hello there! I've been through a similar situation except I actually bought my silkie chicks from the flea market and it appeared that the lady that sold them to me was selling weaker chicks ._. So I went to my local farm supply store and bought this powder stuff that you mix in their water and it gives them vitamins and also helps assist with helping them get hungry(I'll find the bottle when I get home because I'm so bad to misplace stuff XD) so anyway, I noticed a big difference in their energy after I helped them drink the medicated water
