The girls are 4 weeks and a few days old. I plan to kick them out of the house and into the coop in about two more weeks. I've got the heat lamp on a timer at night so that it shuts off for about three hours now and will increase it more tonight. I'm thinking of turning the lamp off altogether next week since they'll be in the basement where it stays about 65 to 67 and leaving a plain old CFL on for light during the day. I'm thinking this will get them accustomed to normal daytime light cycles, as well as help them finish feathering out a little more quickly. Am I thinking along the right lines here?

Yeah, similar... I have a dimmer switch hooked up to mine, so I can gradually decrease the temp that way. I tried to let my polish go with a light at night, but they fussed! So, I had to give them a night lite!
