Hello everyone,
My hen whom I thought had a broken leg is finally at the vet getting looked at. She survived the night, but still cannot stand. She laid her egg yesterday after the attack, but nothing yet today.
my other hen Angel, is still in shock, not wanting to eat or drink, she is happy to stand in her open crate or lay down. No obvious injuries except a few feathers missing from her head. She will take sips of water and that’s it. What can I do with a hen in shock..praying for Speedy who is at the vet

Hi, here’s a pic of Angel.
her neck looks bulged somehow.

I'm so sorry you lost your hen. It can be tough.. You might put some electrolytes in her water but she just needs some quiet time to recover if she is not injured just scared to death.

Sorry that you lost the one hen. Is the enlarged chest due to air under her skin, or from a large crop? Air under the skin can be from a ruptured air sac. It can sometimes be removed with a needle and pressing the air out or using a syringe to remove the air.

Hi, good news!!
Angel started eating today. Offered her some waters down feed, and she ate that then hopped out of her crate, I let her out and she rejoined the flock in the orchard. Not sure if I should let her roost with them tonight or not. I’m so relieved 😅

Halleluia! Congrats on Angel's better well-being! I hope that she recovers fully from that shock.
