chicken killed only visible wound butt ate out guts gone. Is it a weasel or what?

Sounds like a possum.. They usually go for the innards or egg area.

It had to get in & out of the pen possums are stupid & for the most part they will look at you & wonder y you are about to run them over as they feast on the flattened carcase of a cat or something this happened during the day while I was at work I cannot swear that you are not right bit this is the second chicken i have lost to this varmit & I* aim to tighten up the pen this weekend

Weasels usually attack the head and kill more than one chicken at a time. They are blood thirsty little devils.
I think you have a opposum too.

A weasle attack left me with 12 dead 4-month-old buff orpingtons with the only noticable wound being a slit throat. Weasles adore blood. Raccoons and possums both like the innards, but Raccoons are more prone to drag off whole chickens for later. So, I agree that it sounds like Opossum.

could be a coon but I thought they hunt mostly at night
