Well, so much for the great plans of mice and men! I had plans to complete my new A-Frame coop this weekend as my chicks are 4-5 weeks old and are growing out of the brooder rapidly. I do have a temporary option of a small 3' x 4' coop and 4' x 8' run but I am in the process of finishing it by predator proofing it. This smaller coop should be done in a day, but rain keeps us from the project!

I am kinda anxious to get them in a bigger space (26 chicks!) ASAP! They are fine but behavior may become an issue if they are not thinned out in a hurry. So far, no headaches have arisen.

Maybe this afternoon will be better. Wish me luck!

and here is the smaller coop that will be a temporary home until the A-Frame is complete.

I like the A Frame. Looks like your making good use of some scrap material. I've got to get out and do some scrounging myself to save some money. I have to get a temporary coop built in case of any sicks chicks. I really want a "Hospital Coop" (Covert Term for "I might find another chick or two that I need to put in a second coop"). LOL. The weather sucks! I got my chicks put in the coop day before yesterday because they were escaping the kiddie pool. It's been in the high 80's and was 90 yesterday. It's 53 degrees right now with a high of 57 and 20mph wind gusts. I'm running around trying to seal the coop windows with some scrap carpet and plastic.

I know what you mean.....we were planning on getting the rest of the panels up and putting the door on our new coop/run this weekend after a week of temps in the 80's but Nooooooo now it is in the 30's cloudy and rainy. My sweet wonderful hubby is out there working on building the frames for the fence panels but I am not much help, I have Fibromyalgia and being out in the cold like that just kills me:( so I am not much help. Oh well next weekend is supposed to be much better....fingers crossed.

I hear you on the weather... My 3 days I had off this week were shot to crap because of Monday -snow, Tues-snow sleet rain, Wed rain and wind
Thankfully this past Saturday was clear yet cold and windy but I got 3 walls up on the new coop. Its slow going but I am doing it by myself so it takes me three times as long.

Working in the rain and wind we almost have the run completed and the inside of the coop is painted but I don't think it's ever going to be warm and dry enough to paint the outside. Doesn't matter the hatchlings have way out grown their brooder, they are going out to their coop with a heater inside and we'll get around to painting the outside in July!
