How do you all keep your chickens cool when it gets really hot out??? I was thinking about getting a wading pool and putting it in the run for them. Putting frozen lunch Ice packs in their water containers

Start with making sure they have shade. they will also like dry dirt. it sounds weird, but they take "dust baths" to cool them selves down by making little ditches and sitting in them while kicking dirt around. if you want, you can fill up a few empty soda bottles with water and freeze them and the chickens will lay by them. Don't worry though, chickens usually don't die from heat. in fact, they can handle very high temperatures. the danger is the humidity with the heat if anything. chickens usually dont like to swim, so the water wont do much.

I watering the garden with hose at midday and afternoon also they like to bath in the wet soil.

Thanks.... they have shade, my hubby and I built a shade table for them and we have a tarp over the top of the run for more shade. I give them fresh water twice a day whether they need it or not. I like them having fresh cold water. They seem to be doing ok now that it's cooling down some. I put two gallon milk jugs in my deep freezer for them. I also have 3 or 4 ice packs for the water containers.
