It was the first gloomy day today, without much sunshine, and I noticed the flock appeared less active today. Everyone still had appetites, foraging, doing normal chicken stuff, and even got 5 eggs today! I just noticed one of the girls sleeping more than usual when it was very gloomy out earlier in the day. Do chickens tend to be more sleepy/groggy when it's gloomy, or could this be the beginning of lethargy? What is "lethargic" in the chicken world? Picture of my beautiful eggs from yesterday! Thanks!

Could be the weather, for me, during winter my flock tends to be like that.
Definitely monitor though. Sleeping, being slower, not as alert, and not very responsive are all signs of lethargy. If the one is like that after a day or two she may be sick, especially if she's the only one acting like that.
Give her a good look over for any injuries, mites and lice, bloated abdomen, a bloated crop, ect. See if you notice anything that is off.

She seemed to be more normal this evening, went over her treat and was about foraging/squawking at us. I will keep an eye on her and all of them the next few days! Thank you for the reassurance! 🩷

We've had a ton of rain over the last two days (finally!), and my two were practically comatose outside. They didn't even want to come out of the coop this morning! I've found the behavior can vary from flock to flock. My previous girls loved the rain and would spend the day mucking at the wet walls and dust bathing. The bantams act like it's armageddon and their organs are shutting down.

Sounds great! Glad she's better.

Yes same here! It's been sunny for weeks straight and then rain. Most of the girls seemed okay, maybe a little sleepier this morning than normal but Violet (she's the top girl) was sleeping in the middle of the runner with her little beak tucked into her wing when I checked on them (it was cute but made me worried). She was eating and drinking normally.. and by this is evening the sun came out and she seemed to perk up.. my husband did let them out of the runner the other day for like 3 minutes and I'm like "YOU GOT THEM SICK NOW!!"🤣
