My coop has gaps at the top, under the roof. Climate is hot, usually dry (very dry, constant drought), but if there's heavy rain, with wind (which we've been having, lately), rain does blow in from this side (west - the other side is covered by the run roof, this side is the back of the coop and there's nothing on the outside). It's not a huge drama, I just have to replace the little area of wet bedding, but I'd rather not have to. Do any of you clever construction people have ideas for improving the weather resistance, without impeding the ventilation? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. The plastic vents seem to be square/rectangular, getting something to fit might be tricky.

I wasn't really sure about how to increase/add to the overhang.

That looks like a metal roof. If it is, you may be able to back out some of the screws holding the roofing material on, slip a short piece of metal in between the roofing and the board it screws into (but the right size to stick out past the roof edge), then running the screws back in--making an overhang. for that matter, if looks don't matter and you don't have strong winds, you could just lay a solid material on the roof and put a block on top of it to hold it in place.

Thanks trudy, it is a metal roof. I'm not sure where the screws are - I might need to get "a guy" in to do it. I'm not good at heights and the roof is high.

I might try first with a bit of fly mesh. If it will help, it may be sufficient. It's really only been a bother recently, when we've had more rain than usual. Normally it's very (very) dry. I just hope the mesh doesn't impede the ventilation too much. In summer, having those "holes" really helps keep things cool in there.
