Your silkies are beautiful. A friend of mine has hatched eggs from several well-known breeders (my HatTrick roo is from her), and the hens from you are gorgeous. I noticed that your grey silkies as chicks have a pattern to them that almost resembles a partridge. Is that typical? I ask because I have a chick that I'm having trouble identifying color wise. He/she is from eggs I hatched from another breeder. The coloring on this chick is a very light grey & his crest is even lighter, actually white. He does not have a pattern though. I had settled on grey, but looking at your pics makes me think it might just be a pretty shade of light blue, which would be great too.

Yes the pattern is what a chinchilla grey should have.
Your bird may be a grey color and just not have the chinchilla pattern.
