Wedding Plans..help with veil?

"it's your wedding".....emmmm....sorta. Myself, I love to see personal touches at a wedding, and I see no problem not sticking to every detail as absolutely traditional. I think the ideas are really creative and individual, the kind of thing that makes a wedding memorable....but...as the saying goes, 'that's just me'. I have to recognize, there are people who don't see it that way...and that some of them are...my relatives...and...that thirty years after the wedding, they are still grousing about it....

I think a head band with white hackle feathers and a "veil" of white peacock feathers trailing down in the back would be lovely. There are all sorts of caps and bands that can be used to make the head piece. Google hat making supplies if you need to. Most craft stores and fabric stores have large wedding sections with all sorts of things for making veils, most even have the combs in them already. I've made hats for the theater before (long ago, and in another life) and there is this wonderful thing called a hat blank. It is a form that can be covered with fabric, or whatever and turned into a hat.

I wanted to incorporate my girls into my wedding as well. I didn't want to do the long veil deal, so went with a birdcage veil instead. I made the flower portion out of fabric and an old button and backed it with feathers from my girls. The birdcage portion I made out of netting I ordered online. The whole thing probably cost around $15 and took 1-2 hours to make.

I went to www.etsy.com They have a beautiful selection when I searched feather veils, it would at least give you an idea or possibly and outlet to buy one.
