This is only my second summer of chicken-dom, they are currently for pets and eggs. I have 2 adult hen, 1 roo and 3 babies that we hatched about a month ago. We let the adults free range in the evenings and all day Sat/Sun while we're home. We have a little less than an acre. How in the world do I keep the weeds down without using round-up, etc? And for that matter, what do I use to fertilize the lawn? I don't want to eat eggs that are filled with miracle grow and round-up, but I am a rookie, and way to busy to pull all of these weeds by hand!!

Yep, chickens will fertilize that lawn like nothing you can buy to put on it!
You can still use Round-up, (if that's what you like to use) just don't let the chickens free range for about 4 days after spraying, I think that's how long it takes to go inert. That's also about how long it takes for the weeds to brown, and the chickens will much prefer the green grass for eating. I know it's safe for skin contact as soon as it's dry.
