Our berries are between the cardboard so they soak in water. But good tipI have done the cardboard thing too. I use piles of oak leaves on top to hold them down. It has worked VERY well. It's especially helpful when I have big open areas that will be covered eventually by squash plants. Space-wise, it's half my garden. Weeding-wise, it's 5% of the work.
One thing to watch out for: It can block water from getting to the ground below. Good for killing weeds, but can hurt your plants. I make sure I leave some open ground right where I planted, and water that ground thoroughly when I water the garden.
Does it kill the roots too? Creeping buttercups, morning glory, dock & wild blackberries are a recurring problem.Have you tried spraying vinegar on them? Vinegar will kill most weeds in my area but you have to be careful not to get it on things you want to keep.
It’s definitely worth a try. I think it does fry the roots.Does it kill the roots too? Creeping buttercups, morning glory, dock & wild blackberries are a recurring problem.
