Clink the link and see my week old chick crowing.
The mother is a banty hen and the father is a silkie rooster. Has anyone else heard one crow that early? If so give me a shout.

I have never had a chick crow that early, and I have raised my share of roosters. It is really funny to hear a chick that small crow. I actually knew someone who was involved in an experiment at school in which they injected chicks with testosterone and the chicks would crow at a really young age. It will be interesting to see if your chick has any other unusual behaviors as he develops.

I can promise you this little guy has had no such testosterone boosts. I think it must have something to do with being a silkie cross. I had another on start crowing at less than three weeks.

Ha, I'm sure there were no shots of testosterone for your flock. I does make me wonder if certain breeds or crosses can have a relatively high testosterone level for a chick. What ever the cause the little crower is pretty adorable.

yes he is a cutie. You may be right about the crosses. All my roosters are silkies and they crow A LOT! I got one that crows all night. Maybe that's the baby's daddy.
