In the Brooder
Last night this little chick was getting picked on by the others in the brooder so I took her out. I noticed her before because she has one big bugged-out eye. She was running around like crazy in the flock but last night she was down. I tried to get her to drink and she did but then lay righ back down again. She does it slowly, like falling asleep on her feet. I did notice her poop was a yellowish or neon green color. She was pooping so I thought perhaps she was still clearing her system of whatever happened to her on the trip from Sand Hill.
I separated her into a little brooder box of her own and gave her water and food. She's picked at the food and drank but fell asleep right at the waterer. I took a few photos but they turned out yellow from the brooder light.
Did I mention that I'm a first timer?
Poop. Its dried but yellow. Not as yellow as it was before but chalky. Its not very similar to the other birds' poop.
Side of the little chick with the big eye.
can see the difference in her head size from one side to the other.
falling asleep at the waterer.
Her eye. I think the light is too strong for her in this little brooder. The temperature is fine I have a thermometer in there but the light might hurt the eye. Maybe I need to fashion a small patch for her. Anything I can do to help her, I'm willing to do.Thoughts?
