About telling the males and females apart. Unlike ducks, the drakes tail feathers do not curl. Muscovys are not ducks. They are very similar though. Genetically they are different. If you cross a duck with a muscovy the offspring are mules. The drake grows to be twice as big as the females. They also have more and larger caruncles. The easiest way to tell them apart is the drakes when full grown have a soft rasping hiss for their voice. Females are different. They either are silent , have a trill, or a semi squeaky quack. The males voice resembles drakes in the other breeds of ducks. Hope this helps.
