Weekend roadtrips with the girls

Hello. I need some advice about travelling with our 3 hens. we are buying a vacation home 1.5 hours away and will need to take the hens with us on weekends because there is nobody to care for them if we go away. I plan on building another coop and run at the new place, but any suggestions about travelling in the car will be appreciated. Can I put all 3 in a cat carrier to travel? Is there any other considerations? I assume they'll get used to having 2 homes after a fashion. Don't know how it's going to work in the winter. Thanks, in advance. G

Hi, and welcome to BYC!

I have not yet traveled with any of my chickens, we leave them home with full nipple water buckets and full feeders for weekends away.

I don't see any problem with putting them in a pet crate in the car. I'd cover them, like covering a caged song bird at night, so they sleep on the way. Let us know how it works out!
