Does anyone know how to weigh a live duck?

I want to track growth rates etc. For chickens you can hang them upside down and they get calm, but in Holderread’s book he says not to hold ducks by the legs. What else can you do to weigh them?

I put them in a feed bag and use a luggage scale.

I’d do it like a newborn. Weigh whatever you’re putting the duck in, zero it out, then add duck. Depending upon the duck and scale it could be a box, bowl, bag, or even a blanket wrapped.

Awesome! Putting them in a closed container sounds good

I am a little embarrassed that I didn’t think of putting the ducks in a container

I have a human size digital scale I get my weight then hold said bird to get their weight.
My wife suggested that, but our current bathroom scale is not accurate enough. I think that we will have to get a new scale. Our bathroom scale can handle the weight but isn’t accurate enough and our kitchen scale is accurate enough but only goes to 5 lbs which isn’t enough for a large bird or a small bird and a container. That luggage scale looked like it might be a good middle ground
