I am measuring weight loss for a hatch of 5x Wyandotte (one was blank) and 6x cochin. I got them direct from breeder. All the Wyandotte and 2 of the Cochin are right on target. However, 4 cochin have been low at every check. This is pulling down the average. I presume there must be something different about these eggs? I had expected there to be an even spread of weight loss however there seems to be 2 distinct groups. The chart shows the variation from target for each egg. Scale is percentage differnce to target so the lightest egg has lost 13% at day 15.

I use a fan bater and started at 45%. I increased to 50 -55% after the first weigh in. It is now day 15. Should I crank up the humidity to stop any more weight loss? What would you have done to adjust the humidity with these results?

I am fairly new to hatching and looking to learn from the community for next time :)

Thanks for the threads Kasey.

For others interest, those that were within 1% of target weight loss at day 18 hatched without issue. The others that were 3-5% under weight were all assisted to variying degrees. Most were shrink wrapped with the inner membrane pulled away from the shell. Thankfully, all bar one made it. One died without internally pipping though seemed fully formed and in good position. Maybe did not have enough room or the pip was not obvious when candling and I missed the assist.
