Previously i a week ago i had an Australorp hen that had lost a bit of weight and also looked as if she had a cold. She didnt make through the next day. Been vigilant and now it seems that my daughters RIR hen is losing a bit of weight and just didnt seem rite. I saw her eating this morning. What can be causing this? Pen is clean . Someone has a lil runny poo. I cant tell who it is. What could be the cause. Ive never wormed em since ive had had em. Could they be wormy? Dont see any in the poo? Any suggestions? Or else its off to the vet. I aint losin no more birds if i can help it.

So it was off to the vet and described the symptoms of my Australorp. Vet says there is two possibilities... Worms or coccidia. He suggested that they all be treated for worms first off. Now the australorp hen progressivly lost weight. Her feathers were always ruffled and she was listless. Her appetite went to nothing and i couldnt stabilize her weight. At the end she got a cold due to her immune system being down and finally died. Sounds like coccidia to me. Vet wants a poop sample from the RIR hen to be sure. I learned a great deal with this but at the loss of a good hen

Vet said Roxy has a small amount of coccidia bacteria in her poop. When directly to the feed store and got what he suggested and am giving it to evreybody. Roxy seems to have a impacted crop that ive been workin on for the last couple of days. Its getting softer but it seems to harden up again by the morning time. Whats the deal w that?
