I had a Dark Cornish chick hatch yesterday. It seems perfectly fine aside from one thing...it has this red ball on it's behind. The ball seems like it's actually attached to the chick. I don't know what to do about =/ It seems healthy (it's only day 2 though), so I don't know if this red ball will eventually go away or if I need to put the chick down. Below are two pics (the chick is upside down).

Someone recently had something like this on a duckling, and it turned out to be a normal bump from being attached to the yolk, if I recall correctly. I am not a hatch expert, but we had this on the duck forum. Keep an eye on it, but I suspect it will be absorbed and the chick is fine.

Thank you for getting back to me! It's really been bothering me, trying to figure out what this is. I tried to do a search on Google to find out more...but I couldn't think of how to phrase it other than "weird ball on chick's behind". Well, as you can imagine, that gives really weird search results sometimes!
