Hello everyone
I was wondering if you could help me diagnose my hen. I found her inside her coop. It seem as though she couldn't walk. She would walk like on her knees and it looked like she couldn't quite keep her balance as her wings would be kind of droopy. She is also twisting her neck a little to the right. Her poop is kind of a greenish liquid. She is trying to eat but having a hard time as she pecks but misses the food most of the time.
Really hoping somebody can help me. Thanks!

Welcome To BYC

Do you know if she was vaccinated for Marek's?

From the symptoms you describe she may have Wry Neck which is a neurological symptom of several conditions - like Vitamin E deficiency, diseases like Marek's or Lymphoid Leukosis or from injury (head trauma). You can try treating her with Vitamin E and Selenium. Give her a good poultry vitamin like Poultry Nutri-Drench (dosage is 1ml per 3lbs.).

You may need to help her eat/drink. Some people tube or syringe feed them, other have luck holding them (video linked below). The most important thing is to keep her hydrated. Offer her some extra protein like egg or tuna in addition to her normal feed. Sometimes wet feed is a bit easier to eat.

Let us know how she is doing.

Someone recently posted some good advice about wry neck.... is it a vitamin A or E deficiency? The bird had a miraculous turn around with the right vitamins.

One of my chickens was also having problems walking straight, couldn't keep her balance and had droopy wings just a few days ago. She didn't have a crooked neck but while trying to figure out what it was I found this thread, https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/135247/st-johns-wort , that talks about Marek's and a treatment. I don't know if that is what my chicken has or what my chicken had but I gave it a try just in case. She did also get antibiotics incase of an ear infection so I don't know if it was the antibiotics or the treatment from the link or both together but she can now hold herself up, walk normally and her wings aren't drooping. I thought it wouldn't hurt to share and that it could maybe help. I hope your chicken gets better soon.

You can try giving her this treatment along with vitamins or any other treatment she gets. The link above in Wyorp Rock's reply on Marek's is also really helpful and informative.
